As SW(software) is used more often and its use is more important in many fields, the Korean government plansSW education as a regular curriculum in the elementary, middle and high school education environment from 2018. This study aims to analyze the SW development competition result of pre-service elementary teachers submitted between 2014 and 2017 to determine the educational plan for connecting their SW development skills to curriculums and suggest an educational plan for training pre-service elementary teachers for future SW education. To this end, 61 educational SW development results submitted for the last 4 years are analyzed about the trend by years in terms of education methods, targeted subjects and school years, and development tools. Moreover, the curriculum for improving SW development skills of the pre-service elementary teachers is suggested. This study can be used to designing curriculums for determining educational plans to connect SW development skills of pre-service elementary teachers to creative curriculum courses and enhancing their problem-solving ability

A Verb-centered Ontology Modelling for Text Understanding

    Get PDF
The role of illustration is to illustrate specific words used in sentence or to express a specific situation. To automatically generate an illustration, the sentences used in contents must be understood and expressed as pictures. This requires an ontology consisting of parsing results, characters, words, affiliations, backgrounds, props, location and time. Manual correction is also required once the scene is configured. In order to improve the productivity of contents based on auto-generation of illustrations, studies for the auto-generation of illustrations are continuously performed. This study models a verb-centered ontology to be used for character-background-prop arrangement, arrangement and emotion of characters, time, weather and seasonal expression necessary for constructing illustrations of Korean traditional fairy tales. As part of the ontology used to construct the illustrations, the verb ontology not only plays a fundamental role for each verb type but also can be used for more naturally representing the behavior, placement, and emotion of characters appearing in the illustration, using different verb concepts and various relationships between concepts

Data Representation Model for Management and Distribution of Scientific Data

Scientific tools and computer simulations enable rapid creation of various types of data and a number of studies have been conducted on data provenance and web-based data representation models to enhance the distribution, reproduction and reusability of scientific data. Ontology is a knowledge representation model, which is also used as data and workflow technology for data provenance. In this study, as part of managing and distributing for scientific data studies, metadata and data representation model were defined for the management and distribution of Visible Korean online. In addition, additional metadata required for re-distributing the user data created through the Visible Korean study is defined using an ontology-based data representation model, and an RDFa-based web page generation method is proposed to search and extract data from existing web pages. This study enables to manage and distribute the Visible Korean online, which has been managed and distributed offline, and a virtuous recycling of distributing research results as wells

Linked Data Construction and Utilization of Public Data for Tourist Information Service

Korea, as well as other developed countries in the field of information technology, is making various efforts to enhance the industrial competitiveness, not to mention the competitiveness of information services, by constructing and utilizing a data model through private use of public data and production, distribution and utilization of data. The purpose of this study is to design an ontology for tourist information service and construct linked data for 44 public data held by the City of Seoul to enhance the tourist information service. To do this, we analyzed the attributes of domestic public and tourist information and examined data linkage method. In other words, we added classes and properties to express tourist information based on schema ontology to link the information with external data, and proposed a method of providing tourist information using the linked data. The results of this study can reduce the time and costs for various private and public organizations, which use tourist information, in acquiring the tourist information, and help improve the industrial competitiveness through distribution and utilization of public data

    A new butterfly-shaped chaotic attractor

    Get PDF
AbstractIn this paper, a new chaotic system is proposed that consists of six terms including one multiplier and one quadratic term. The characteristics of this system are examined by theoretical and numerical analysis, such as equilibria, their stabilities, Lyapunov exponents and Lyapunov dimension, dissipativity, as well as, Poincaré maps, bifurcations, waveforms, power spectrums are performed. In addition, the forming mechanisms of compound structures of the new chaotic attractor are investigated

Polymer-Based Delivery of Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 for the Treatment of Diabetes

The incretin hormones, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and its receptor agonist (exendin-4), are well known for glucose homeostasis, insulinotropic effect, and effects on weight loss and food intake. However, due to the rapid degradation of GLP-1 by dipeptidylpeptidase-IV (DPP-IV) enzyme and renal elimination of exendin-4, their clinical applications have been restricted. Although exendin-4 has longer half-life than GLP-1, it still requires frequent injections to maintain efficacy for the treatment of diabetes. In recent decades, various polymeric delivery systems have been developed for the delivery of GLP-1 and exendin-4 genes or peptides for their long-term action and the extra production in ectopic tissues. Herein, we discuss the modification of the expression cassettes and peptides for long-term production and secretion of the native peptides. In addition, the characteristics of nonviral or viral system used for a delivery of a modified GLP-1 or exendin-4 are described. Furthermore, recent efforts to improve the biological half-life of GLP-1 or exendin-4 peptide via chemical conjugation with various smart polymers via chemical conjugation compared with native peptide are discussed

Housing Information Modelling for BIM-embedded Housing Refurbishment

    Get PDF
The aim of this research is to identify BIM input datasets within a BIM-embedded housing refurbishment process and enabling construction professionals to utilize BIM as an information management platform for housing refurbishment projects. A hypothetical case study using BIM tools for a housing refurbishment project is adopted to identify BIM input datasets to create a housing information model within a BIM system. Reliability of the research outcome is examined by conducting a comparative analysis between existing and simulated research outcomes. This research identifies essential BIM input datasets during the early design phase. The importance of a well-integrated housing information model containing accurate as-built condition, cost and thermal performance information is essential to utilize BIM for housing refurbishment. BIM can be feasible for housing refurbishment when an information enriched housing information model is constructed. Furthermore, the capability of BIM that can enable key project stakeholders to determine the most affordable refurbishment solution among various alternatives is identified since BIM can provide reliable cost estimations and thermal performance of refurbishment alternatives at the early design stage. The examined refurbishment processes and input datasets are confined to the early design phases since BIM use for housing refurbishment is limited. This research will contribute to utilize BIM for housing refurbishment by providing essential BIM input datasets and BIM-embedded refurbishment processes. This research reveals primary housing information datasets and BIM-embedded refurbishment processes at the early design phase
